The Effect of Focused Time Management Self-Regulated Learning Strategy Program on Time Management Ability and Academic Motivation

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of self regulated learning strategy program to the use of time management, time management ability and academic motivation. For this study, the sample is carried out by selecting 17 students in 9th-grade at a middle school in Daegu city, as experimental group and another 31 students in 9th-grade at a middle school in the same city as a control group. The self regulated learning strategy program to the use of time management applied to the experimental group was the new program of the author which is based on Covey¡¯s 4th-generation Time Management and Mind 21 clinic center¡¯s workbook. After testing Time Management, Self-Efficacy and Failure Tolerance both experimental and control group at first, were tested self regulated learning strategy program to the use of time management to the experimental group only for 5 weeks, 10 times and twice a weeks, then, were carried out Time Management test, Self-Efficacy test and Failure Tolerance test in order to resolve the research matter.
The results were as follow:
First, Experimental group showed significantly higher improvement than control group in Time Management ability.
Second, Experimental group showed significantly higher improvement than control group in Self-Efficacy. But experimental group didn¡¯t showed improvement than control group in Failure Tolerance.
As a result of this study, it is confirmed that self regulated learning strategy program the use of time management effects to enhance of increase time management ability,
increase academic motivation for middle school students. This study is a result of testing for grade 9 in short period of 5 weeks at a certain region, and it is not tested if this result can be maintained after a certain period. Thus, it is necessary to study for a long period to make constant internalization of self regulated learning strategy program to the use of time management. Also, it is necessary to make for program of Failure Tolerance.
